Library Policies

The primary use of the CCTS libraries is for research and learning.  We ask that all library users honor the academic environment of the Library and show respect towards other students, the staff, and library resources.  It is expected that a quiet and productive atmosphere be maintained.

Students are welcome to sign into the library before school, during their lunch periods, and any other period (with a pass from their teacher) to read, research or use the computers. Students will respect the needs of others by following the rules below:

  • Students may not bring food, candy or drinks into the library.
  • Students must be working productively. The library is not for socializing or sleeping.  Anyone causing a disturbance will be asked to leave.
  • Students must bring a pass from their classroom teacher! No student will be admitted from a class without a signed pass from your teacher.
  • Students must not leave their school bags unattended in the library.  The library is not responsible for lost personal items!
  • Students must adhere to the CCTS Acceptable Use Policy at all times. Disregard for this policy may result in disciplinary action.
  • Students must keep their passwords private; sharing passwords will result in disciplinary action.
  • Students must log off of their computer when finished with their session.
  • Students are not permitted to chat, IM, access proxy servers or sites, or download .exe files.
  • Students are not permitted to play any computer or Internet games.

Electronic device use in the library

  • Students may use an electronic device to text in the library unless this shall cause a disturbance.  The librarian has the authority to prohibit use by any student of texting if disturbance ensues.
  • Cell phones for calls/cameras/video shall not be used in the library.
  • Students may use electronic devices to listen to music (as long as the music is not audible to others) during lunch periods in the library as long as there is no distrubance caused by this personal listening.

Loss of Privilege

If students have trouble following the rules and expected behavior, they will be asked to leave the library.  Repeated violations will result in the loss of library priveleges!
